How is Die Hard a x-mas movie? And what the heck is "A Wonderful Life"

The movie's setting happens during christmas, it's a christmas party they are attending before the stuff in the movie happens.

Basically... is the movie being set at Christmas important to the story?  If so, then it is a Christmas movie.
If you can change the movie to another time without it really affecting the plot, then it isn't really a Christmas movie, just takes place during Christmas.

Die Hard is set during Christmas because the plan to rob the tower involves doing it during the Christmas party so that the building is mostly empty, except for executives and higher ups that can be used as hostages. Thus... Christmas movie!

Bruce Willis says "Ho ho ho, now I have a machine gun!" How can you get more Christmassy than that?

Also, "It's a Wonderful Life" is.. Kind of like "Back to the Future 2" only with sideways instead of forward, and they didn't have DeLoreans to make fun of in 1946. If they'd gotten a Sherman up to 88mph, it would have some redeeming virtue.

I think I need to watch it again, I don't remember any of this. However, I have never associated Die Hard to Christmas.

NOW I HAVE A
MACHINE GUN
HO HO HO

It's a Christmas movie because if you take away the Christmas party in the Nakatomi building, both Hans Gruber and John Mcclane aren't there. They are there for Christmas and nothing else, therefor it's a christmas movie.
