It provides pretty environmental fluff for pilots to run into when they have accidentally started to burn away from the mothership that says "hey, where are you going, the battle is over there!"

if you are talking the hacking thing in VGs that a key component to finishing the site, but if you are in the mom site, the kundalini manefest, it does nothing

There is actually some hacking involved in the kundalini manifest, although rarely used, I believe. Can't find it anywhere though.

You c an hack a module that give you a item much like a mtac that can be placed in a container to make npc's warp off,If your doing it in part of a large fleet which wtm do you don't need to do it

I think its the maras and tamas that warp off. Not absolutely sure though
