Hello, newbro here.  As you can tell, I am new to Incursions, though I have done some extensive reading on them from a myriad of sources.  I am currently skilling into flying a Hyperion (and eventually a Vindicator), but since that takes time, I will be unable to participate as mainline DPS.  Hope to shoot up some Sanshas soon.

However, I have also read a few posts and articles talking about salvaging after Incursion fleets.  From my own experience, as an Alpha player, I feel that salvaging is generally a steady and good source of income (though running Incursions themselves is also profitable, which is why I'm here in the first place).  Is it okay if I salvage after WTM fleets?

If not, that's fine - I'll find some other things to do and let your wrecks rest in space and deteriorate after 2 hours...

Hope to see you in Fleet soon,

Salvaging behind WTM Fleet is ok, but you should look at other things to do, since the salvage from Incursions are pretty garbage and dont yield that much ISK,

TPPH and NRF are easy to salvage. You can just bookmark and when there is no beacon anymore at the acceleration gate you will know the site doesnt have any sansha rats.

I would simply not recommend to try to salvage TCRC sites, just cuz you would have to wait a lot for the leftover sansha to despawn after the site and it only has 7 battleship and some frigate wrecks anyway, so high risk low reward.

I guess I should clarify a bit more - I am aware that since Sansha Incursion rats don't drop loot, I can technically salvage without permission from anyone (ninja salvaging, in other words).  However, I was wondering if I could be in fleet and salvage.  This would help for two reasons - I can get verbal confirmation that the gate is clear, and I'll be able to use tractor beams on the wrecks.  In this case, however, would I still have to X-up, and would I be approved?  A salvage destroyer, to me, does not fit the "minimum requirements" for X-up (basically, I'm asking for a wonky exception).

Again, if not, that's fine.  This is just to make the salvaging process more streamlined and efficient.

Sorry, but that is going to be a no.

Ya thats true, you need to burn around and "ninjasalvage" without moving the yellow wrecks.

Wont be invited to fleet but as i said you can bookmark and tag beacons for yourself. when the tagged beacon is gone, that means the site is over and you can enter to salvage. Again only true for TPPH and NRF. My recommendation is to not try to salvage TCRC at all. You could be a bit more greedy with some experience under your belt when you get to know sites.

Is his battleship joining fleet and he's salvaging afterwards?  Duel boxxing account?

If so, could he have the MTU in the battleship that's running sites and drop it during site to tractor in wrecks? Would work better on a sniper for sure I think.

If anyone wants to salvage sites the best ship for it is one of the exploration frigates, Imicus or Magnate preferably. They are bonused for it and are quick and nimble, also if you lose it, it's pretty cheap to replace. If you ignore frigate and cruiser wrecks you can make some decent money as a newbro pilot. It's a good teaching experience for learning dscan as well.

To expand on that: if we let one person salvage in fleet, everyone and their alt (including mine) will want to join in on the extra ISK and it would be a complete mess...

Unfortunately, I cannot do that because of two things: I'm an Alpha clone, and I currently don't have enough skills.  Otherwise, I would have long ago hopped into fleet as DPS and not bothered with salvaging at all.

No, you cannot tractor yellow wrecks. Period.

Is this from testing yourself?  As far as I'm aware, I'm seeing mixed information, some saying that MTUs don't touch yellow wrecks, and others saying that they merely "tractor them in, but don't loot them." https://mtuhunter.wordpress.com/mtu-faq/

That's understandable.  I'll be only doing this while I skill up to participate in WTM fleets.

You're welcome to try but in my personal experience they dont pull anything that doesnt belong to you, similar to how you cant use a tractor beam module to tractor anything yellow.

It would be highly abusable if someone can just tractor away someone else's loot.

Just follow the fleet and pick up lost drones. The money is better.

But now that he has posted this, and we see his name, it’s always a good idea to try and give the drones back to the pilot, if you are seen scooping drones and not trying to make the best effort to give them back, you could potentially be banned from WTM, if you try and join fleet.

I'll keep that in mind if I see lost drones.  Thanks to you all for the prompt responses!

If you can scan, scanning down drones in sites that people have moved on from is pretty lucrative. Plus it means you don't have to travel between gates and no worries about trying to return lost drones at that point.

Since when is drone scavenging while not in fleet a bannable offence? Obviously taking drones from fleetmates is not allowed, but if you aren't in fleet WTM cannot reasonably expect to have you return others' drones. I have been on WTM fleets where we scooped TDF drones left in a 1st room TPPH and this was not considered a problem. I would expect TDF or any other group to scoop drones left by WTM in a similar circumstance.

Bottom line, some FCs might refer to them as "drone thieves" but you shouldn't expect anyone not in fleet with you to give you back any drones you lose. This is a public group which means that generally anything you do outside of the community shouldn't be addressed in the rules.

You are right. Scooping lost drones is not a bannable offense at least if you are not in fleet. People just need to learn to stop forgetting their drones. Scooping drones while in fleet and not giving them back to fleet mates is just poor etiquette though.
